Awarded at The Best Learning Organisations of Asia 2011

In line with ABD’s vision to “be Most Admired Spirits Company” and to “Be Most Admired Employer” it has won an Award at The Best Learning Organisations of Asia 2011, organised by a Non Profitable credible L&OD roundtable consisting of Top HR Leaders across the Industry.

The L&OD Roundtable serves as a knowledge-sharing and practice-building forum for practicing Learning, OD and HR practitioners. Aimed at facilitating dialogue, building capability, and sharing resources, it currently serves 1600+ members (and growing) from India and abroad.


A not-for-profit undertaking, based in Mumbai, it has a Governing Council comprising luminaries from industry and the academic world – Dr. TV Rao (Chairman, TVRLS, and considered the Father of Indian HRD), Mr. Adil Malia (Group President HR – Essar Group), Mr. Aquil Busrai (CEO – Aquil Busrai Consulting), Mr. Shreesh Jamdar (Proprietor, Sambhav), Mr. Prince Augustin (EVP Human Capital – Mahindra & Mahindra), Mr. Rajeshwar Upadhyaya (Director, Par Excellence), and Dr. Sujaya Banerjee (Chief Learning Officer – Essar Group).

This first-of-its-kind study facilitated the process of building Learning Organizations for enhanced sustainable competitive advantage. Besides it provided a wealth of unique information on best-practices and Learning perspectives within the Corporate milieu.

For organizations that have been using variations / aspects of building “learning organizations” without formally referring to the concept, the study has enabled internal consolidation of practices, and sharper clarity on what is needed to more effectively practice the Five disciplines of learning organizations, as identified by Peter Senge.

These include:

  • Having a defined learning agenda
  • Managing discordant information
  • Avoiding the repetition of mistakes
  • Avoiding the loss of critical data with people exits
  • Acting on what the Organisation knows


The Seminar & Awards function conferred by the Learning & Organisation Development Roundtable comprised of Keynote addresses by Learning Thought Leaders, leading HR luminaries and CEOs engaging on learning imperatives and Panel discussions presenting the Nine finalist organizations highlighting the strategic business imperatives and related practices of each, followed by the Awards Ceremony.

Among Thirty Four Organisations that participated, the best Nineteen were shortlisted by an eminent Jury comprising of Dr. T. V. Rao. The representatives of these companies were subsequently interviewed and the list was further brought down to Nine Finalist Organisations.

We were recognised with Special Commendation Award among Five other Large sized organisations such as Tata Motors, Hindustan Petroleum, Bayer Crop Science and Dr. Reddy’s and Four Small and Medium sized organisations such as NTT Data, BRAC, Mahindra Finance, and SGS for leveraging experiential and structured learning & capability building processes in order to achieve the business imperatives and while doing this move towards becoming a Learning Organization.

The seminar was a key learning event to learn from the best in industry, and from global thought leaders. Also, the first edition of the Best Learning Organisations of Asia Study Journal has the learning practices of all Nine finalist Organisations given out to attending delegates as well as profiled for the electronic media. Being among the finalists, ABD would also be featured in the Journal.

This external recognition of Team ABD as an promising Employer Brand is a testimony of our collective efforts towards building a progressive and people oriented Organization. This further reinforces our endeavour to sustain our growth momentum so that together we make ABD “The Most Admired Spirits Company” and “The Most Admired Employer”

Awarded at 2nd Asia’s Best Employer Brand Awards 2011

Team ABD was recognised by the 2nd Asia’s Best Employer Brand Awards 2011 where it was felicitated with awards in the following categories:

  • Award for Talent Management
  • Award for Best HR Strategy in Line with Business

The awards were organized by the Employer Branding Institute, a credible organization with over six years of existence that encourages Senior Leaders in H.R. to connect with each other to share the best practices in Employer Branding that contribute to “Talent Management, Talent Development and Talent Innovation” across Organizations from over 36 Countries.

The awards were announced after adjudication by an eminent jury comprising of stalwarts from the industry network and field of People consultancy at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre on 22nd July 2011 to recognize the Organizations who have surpassed several levels of excellence in benchmarking Talent and HR practices.

Award for Talent Management

This award was meant to recognize the focussed and integrated approach and practices pertaining to all round management & development of talent within the Organization.

The entry towards this nomination showcased the journey right from the conceptualisation of the People Vision “To be the Most Admired Employer” in line with the Company Vision “To be the Most Admired Spirits Company”, and how the various People processes & systems towards attracting, nurturing, developing & retaining talents was put into practice and the way their implementation was ensured. It also included the linkage of Talent Management Strategies with the Organization’s Business Growth Objective and the way forward.

Award for Best HR Strategy in Line with Business

This award was meant to recognize how HR has always been seen as a Strategic Partner and Enabler of Business Sustainable Growth and has ensured Institutionalizing Values, Performance & an Innovation driven Culture, Solution Centric Leadership, and works towards making it the “Most Admired Employer”.

Some of the Key Initiatives that were highlighted through this entry were ABD Academy, ABD Future Leader Program, LOVE ABD, ABD Value Star, ABD Employee Referral Program etc.
